Question.. Has anyone ever heard of anyone being caught using "decorative spray-on snow" to conceal their numberplate?

Decorative snow, dirt, whatever. When you start to drive the plates must be readable. Failure -> fine.

But alas no one ever stops to clean them even when it hasn't snowed for days. Which means no one ever gets fined or they would. Some don't even clear their back/boot window

True dat. Usually cops tell you to clean the plates if they stop you anyway. It is usually the back plate that gets snow covering, but I did have nice 1cm thick layer of ice on front plate too... If the car isn't covered in snow or grime, just the plates, then it is certainly thing that gets attention from police.

Well, blame the plentiful police resources. They just file minor crimes into trashcan if solution is not immediately present, since they do not have enough staff to handle more serious ones properly.

Yes.. I'm from the UK. Im ashamed to say. I just like to know my rights and i get "what if" situations pop into my head all the time. And i got one of my neighbours constantly taking pictures of me.... Ordering asprin over the internet is illegal here. And my "freeman" way of life does come into conflict with regional laws. But im none of the characters you describe. IM not paranoid.. the buggers really are out to get me!! (joke)

I actually added about 20 *konstible polici people on facebook to try and get answers to my questions. Two reply'd...with "we are here to help"

There really isn't a "search warrant"... you neighbour calls in you playing your stereos too loud at night, the police ring your doorbell, come in to "check the situation"

Am i obliged by law to open the door and let them in? Is it not enough to keep my safety latch on? DO i HAVE to let them in? What are the ramifications if I dont?

Pursuivant. You seem like the guy to answer. What is the correct way to deal with a police stop? I have always pulled over, turned my car off, closed windows, exited the vehicle and LOCKED the doors.
Can they demand a stop and search and go through my junk at random ??

You don't have to open the door. just stop the music and the noise. Let them knock on the door until they get tired . They'll move away after a wile they can't brake you door after you stop the MUSIC/NOISE.

In where? In finland police has authority, by force if necessary, to remove people who do disturb "home peace" if there is good probability that one continues disturbing.
Its rare if not practically unheard of that they will break door if you dont open and actually keep that music down but they can if you have shown that you dont care about peace and probably will continue disturbing after they leave.

I hate to anoy tiwaz, but back home a lot of road traffic policing is done by computor. cop sits and waits until his laptop tells him the car that just went past is "fine-able".
im sure you have that here in flying pig land too..but how can it function?

You are apparently failing to grasp that for them to do that, they need to have spare time to sit around and watch computer...

Also remember that you have 10 times the criminals Australia has, in your tiny little space. Than we do in our whole country.
Now look at Finland. They have 100 times less the crimincals. Why would we need such advanced tech? Who is going to pay?

Exactly. Policeman orders you to do it, you @#$% do it. If no one had to obey policemen then they wouldn't be able to do their job, and they all would be useless. People need to read the darn laws for gods sake. I hate it when people think they are above normal responsibilty. If policemen or woman asks you to take off your pants, you better start unbuckling your belt... 95% of policemen are compassionate and they are humans too but like every person they have a job to do and if you are in the way of that, there is procedure and it can be done WITH your compliance or WITHOUT. Choice is yours.

And dunno how wide spread the system is. Iirc there was an episode of Poliisit where they stopped a car for unpaid taxes only to find out that the one who can write had put wrong plates to the computer...

Yes, but they only do most blatant speeding supervision etc while driving around. They do not just sit in the car waiting for computer to beep most of the time.
