Do you know where these policies stem form? I really don't but I do know neither example you provided is Finnish, Gigantti is Norwegian, Bauhaus German. If a sales person is rude then blame it on the Finns but if company policies suck perhaps you should blame it on the companies, not Finns or FInland.

Chinese have demanded Rare Earth elements or they invade. The Chinese want to control the world supply and want to insure the Aussies are under their thumb. The US has sent 12 Marines to beef up Australian 'defenses.'

Re Bauhaus and Gigantti - German and Norwegian ownership:

You are right - and I too believe these are policies coming out of home offices. On the other hand it might be opportunism as DE and NO see that Finnish companies get away with it. Elisa and Sonera have been in Kuluttajavirasto's teeth for years re Customer Service - particularly 'regarding the ridiculous wait times when calling (from which the place you call gets revenue) - that has improved a bit but not significantly. DNA is still Finnish so far as I know and has horrible CS - if you are lucky you get some helpful person at Finnair - but for the most part they have closed off CS from being able to really help. Mind you, there are services available if one calls a 0600 number and pays through the nose (not very alluring when you are looking for sales info - or wondering why you should pay to talk about a defective product)

Kesko and HOK/Elanto are pretty bad as well - you rarely can find the right person -or even the right place to call. Nordea is better than average - Stockmann and Vero excellent (but at prices :) )

What's really missing is a 'qualifying system' - much like Health Service. Lower levels should be able to detect and pass on up what they believe to be problem areas.

Amazon UK as a foreign company has been very good - except when you get shunted off sometimes to Phillipines or Bangladesh.

Hopefully more companies take CS as an important part of their business and work on its development.

And this is relevant to the topic of bad customer service how exactly? Please keep your vendettas to Private messages...

Erm,not really true.
Companies can behave differently depending of the countries and local customs. They can have their customer lines for free in country A and have a fee on them in country B.
In Finland you will find a lot of support lines (even lines where you can order taxis and such things) cost money or even additional fees to the pure phone fees. Why? because they can ask for it as the Finns have too much Sisu to complain. Same with high prices. That's the sad part.

On a sidenote for frankb: googling for Bauhaus Espoo gives at once 09 58411400 as contact. Same with Gigantti Espoo, gives you a number right away. Much ado about nothing?

I said that I spoke with managagement some months ago when they had removed all phone contact as they didn't want store personnel disturbed and had decided to close off their general info number as well (still not restored)! It seems now to have been restored - and thus it seems they reacted to feedback!

So it was a lot to do about a lot. Feedback sometimes WORKS :)

-----------------------

The phone number you found for Gigantti Espoo - is the general CS number - no contact with store! - you get a 48 hour callback possibility - but in practice can take a week.

I'm surprised you know how to log into a forum to be honest. Seeing as you can't even google a phone number. I think the fact that you have a temper tantrum the moment someone tells you to get over yourself says it all.

Ok we'll just add you to the list of crazy racists who get pissed off when they read anything that doesn't agree with them. Your ignorance must be conveni- no wait... your ignorance must be really annoying.

You have my pity.

frankb is on a roll. Clerks better rue the day that they make one small mistake or else they'll have frankb on their case! I'm surprised they let morons like this into Finland anyhow. I guess there will always be fools like this who have their day and just find it necessary to make everyone a guest at their pity party. With an attitude like yours I doubt you have 2 friends to rub together to make a third. :/

Quick guys we have a guiness book of records setter here! frankb never makes any mistakes EVER! He's perfect! Someone better hire him quick! Someone give this man a job

Seems like we have a racist towards asians now... better throw out all your Samsung, and half your Apple tech buddy! The asians are out to get you! Makes sense, blame the asians for everything, blame anyone just don't blame yourself for not knowing how to google a @#$% phone number

So lets see...

Crazy
Racist
Bi polar
Confused
Compulsive liar

I'll just keep adding to the list...

I love how you sound exactly like the kind of guy who thinks everyone should be out to please him, and that the world revolves around you. What a joke.

Nuff said.

Muslims are a race? :|

I've got nothing against Muslims  I have 2 really, really good Muslim friends. I'm against freeloaders. I'm for keeping Finns, Finns, and Aussies, Aussies and idiots like you all in the same group :D that's how culture survives, and that's how the pride of being what you are, remains.

I wouldn't expect an insipid fool like you to understand where I'm coming from. So go ahead, bash away :ochesey:

And yeah, Admins if frankb wants to embarrass himself further, please give me the opportunity to lend a helping hand.

No really quite frank-ly — putting your temper tantrums aside, you need to get over yourself buddy.

Finland is a country that, unlike many, don't hold your hand. In my opinion, this is fantastic! There is such a thing is TOO MUCH customer service. More than half the time it's not needed: If you need customer service to figure out how to hook up your computer, what makes you think you know how to even RUN one once you figure out how to turn it on??

I love societies that don't hold your hand or cave to your every wish. Personal accountability is higher here and we should be grateful for that! And you should work harder to be more responsible.

If you did your research, you would have learned that Gigantti isn't exactly the store you want to buy products from. You failed to do proper research and now your paying the price by jumping through the required hoops. They don't cater to your every want or need at this point but where does that blame fall? Yours.

I don't get all the hate directed at the Aussie, he(?) was merely pointing out where you failed. No need to get all butt hurt by it. Learn. Move on.
