Applying for RP in Finland

Postby blueheaven » Sun Jul 22, 2012 5:33 pm

Hi,
I came here in Finland as tourist visa for 3 months. Now, I am likely to offer Job ( full time ) in Finland. Am I eligible to apply for RP on the basis of work in Finland while I am here in Finland. Do you have same situation? What is the process for applying RP for those who is already in Finland with tourist visa? Your suggestion would be appriecited.

Thanks :)

Are you sure you are in Finland?
You are looking for a room in Helsinki, a bed and a bike in Joensuu.
You want a medical insurance for a RP extension and now you are here on a tourist visa.
To me it looks like a load of crap.

You can apply, but applying here increases risk of rejection.

There is something specific on the application procedure given on www.migri.fi that requires clarification?

You have no chance. Go home, you came here as a tourist and that is what you agreed to be when you came here. Those who granted your visa, or allowed you to stay did so thinking that you would be here to fuel our economy and do what you said you were doing. Not so in the long run you could get a job. If you want to work you have to follow the proper route.
I̶f I can find any way to insult someone, believe me I will.

The process would go something like this:
1) fly home
2) apply rp and get it
3) fly back

"3. How do I apply for my first Finnish residence permit?

You may apply for a residence permit on the basis of family ties, studies, work, or carrying on a business. In addition, you may apply for a residence permit on the basis of Finnish origin or remigration. In special cases you may also be granted a residence permit on other grounds.
As a rule, you must submit the application for your first residence permit to the Finnish embassy in your home country before entering Finland. A fee will be charged for the processing of the application."

And why would we help him if he doesn't want to ask himself?
