Any of you in HKI play recreational ice hockey?

Post by d0gf4ce » Sat Jan 24, 2009 1:19 pm

I'm going to be moving to Helsinki in march, so I'm looking for new acquaintances.

So... is anyone up for the old stick and puck? I'm a 26m with a strong back, but my stickhandling is really pathetic.
My slapshot looks like someone hitting an old scone with a piece of wet toast, but it's all in good fun, right?

I'm up for this. I have skates and a stick (recently acquired) but have never played before. The time is a real problem for me though as the Mrs works weekends in the daytime and I have to look after my 2 year old. Mon, Tue, Sat & Sun evenings are OK though.

Hi everyone,
outdoor ice rinks are opening soon and I'd like to gather people who would like to play hockey.
The idea is to bring together people who would like to play or to try.

- No age limit.
- All levels accepted. Beginners are welcome, confirmed players too.
- Ladies and gentleman.
- Internationals and locals.

Play only for fun, with skates and sticks. Good mood.

Brahenkenttä in Kallio is opening first (nov 26th) .
Sticks and skates can be rented on spot.

If you are interested, tell what time in the week/ in the day would be the most suitable for you.

Let's try a first meeting on tuesday 27th evening.
The rink is open from 19.30 to 22.00.

Let's meet at 19.15 in the changing room.

Can't make tomorrow, have to work late and I don't have skates at the moment (last ones broke) but I will come in the future.

It was nice to play a little and the snow came only when we were already tired.

There were many people on the ice this tuesday evening. Perhaps because it's the first week.

Another day and time may be more convenient to have more space to play, like saturday or sunday morning.

Hi, is heading to Brahen Kenttä still the best bet for finding hockey in Helsinki? Are there any beer leagues as well? How easy is it to join a team?
Any info would be great - so I can figure out getting my gear over here at the right time.
