Hi,
Anyone knows where can I find live crayfishes in Helsinki (in worst case Espoo or Vantaa ) ? I looked to Hakaniemi's market, but they don't have.
Kiitos

Re: Live crayfish
Not sure of crayfish but a relative of mine claimed there’s a fish tank full of live lobsters in the Ruoholahti K-Citymarket, which was a first for her.vaxtang wrote:Anyone knows where can I find live crayfishes in Helsinki (in worst case Espoo or Vantaa ) ? Re: Live crayfish
Never heard of live crayfish in shops.
It is a seasonal delicacy and outside the season there is no demand I guess.

Re: Live crayfish
And the season lasts for about three weeks at the end of July, beginning of August.
Eating crayfish in January would be like eating brussels sprouts in the middle of summer - weird.

There are live crayfish in shops (well, at least in the Iso Omena Citymarket) during the crayfish season. But yeah, this is totally the wrong season for that.rinso wrote:Never heard of live crayfish in shops.

Re: Live crayfish
Because tomatoes grow in greenhouses, but crayfish are wild.

Re: Live crayfish
Some are, some are not. But you have to live somewhere else than in Helsinki to get them out of season: http://personal.inet.fi/yritys/ojalanrapu/esittely.htmlPursuivant wrote:Because tomatoes grow in greenhouses, but crayfish are wild.
