Help.
sukelluskeskus.fi in Tampere is real expensive.
Just for the first course its 460e. OPEN WATER ONE (and thats only swiming pool lessons)!
+ about 220e for the equipment, gloves boots fins mask & snorkel.
I know its an expensive sport... BUT..
Are there any SCUBA divers in Finland that can recommend a more affordable way?

220e for gear in a beginner's course? When I did a course like that, we borrowed used gear/it was part of the course fee. Crazy to start buying stuff when half of the course members probably will never go on any kind of dives after the end of the course.

Keep your credit card open for last minute flights to Thailand. You get a trip and you can get certified there. My Finnish friend did it that way. Why get in the cold water here when there are far better places to see underwater.

That said, when you do go on that sunny holiday dive trip and the divemaster asks "where was your last dive" it's quite cool to be able to say "Finland, under 60cm of ice"

Hello,
You are very welcome to our paradise- Sri Lanka for scuba diving... I am sure you would love the corals and the sea life without a doubt... The lessons cost almost half of what you pay in Finland... I will poke you next time when I go home and you are very welcome to join

Haven't done any training here, but that does seem a bit expensive. One often cheaper option is to find a CMAS club. The instruction is considerably cheaper although probably they won't have much gear to lent / rent, but that you can get from a dive centre.

Well i checked their page and that 460e open water one includes 4 open water dives. Also price includes gear exluding gloves, snorkel, mask and "swimfin" where you choose most expensive ones they offer, you can choose 85e one or buy it from somewhere else.mjoll wrote: Just for the first course its 460e. This topic went on stand-by last year, but the ice is gone and the weather improving. Anyone diving?
