Hello,

The -essa suffix can be combined with the passive/impersonal form of the verb: for example, haettaessa verkosta "When one searches on the 'net ...".

However, I was once told that it is not considered correct to do this with the -en suffix: for example, you could use the form hyppien in a sentence like Hän juoksi kotiin hyppien ilosta ("He ran home, jumping for joy"), but you could not use an equivalent impersonal form like hypittäen, even if people sometimes do this in practice.

Is it true that impersonal -t(t)aen is not considered correct in the standard language? Is something else used in its place?

Thanks
