Fruits and Berries Harvest Calendar

Post by sbaynes » Fri Aug 29, 2014 2:18 am

Hi Ya'll.,

I am trying to find a chart or table that shows the best annual harvest/picking times for different fruits and berries in the Uusimaa region. Yes yes, it is different year to year because of temperature and rain etc., I know, but there must be some general guidelines to follow for each species. I have been told to search for things like "Satokalenteri" or "Satokausikalenteri", but wondering if anyone has any favourites or recommendations :) Thanks for the help!

Cheers,
Steve

PS. Here is a great website to find fruit and berry resources free to pick for the public! www.satokartta.net

I personally don't pick berries nor mushrooms, but those who do seem to check the situation every now and then and when the berries are ripe they disappear into the forest and come back with buckets full of berries. That I never ever have seen in the wild. Some kind of magic I suppose, as those people can't use cell phone! :P

This is one of those things everybody (i.e. the nowheremäki locals) knows but nobody tells.
