moving from Finland to UK

Post by biooo » Sun Aug 28, 2016 10:40 pm

Does anyone have any experience of moving from Finland to UK. We are going to relocate to Wales at the beginning of next year and would like to know of a reliable, reasonably priced removal company to use. Any advices are highly appreciated. Welcome to PM me as well.

Kiitos paljon

Yes, I have plenty, I've been doing that half a dozen or a dozen times a year for about the last six years, and my colleagues have been doing it even longer ;)

I'll PM you the contact details of the firm I work for; you could also Google for a Finnish removal firm that specialises in household removals and art transport between Finland and Europe / the UK. There aren't that many ;)

There are tons of threads asking the same question, please use search and look at them for more names. Zetorpilot works for Kahari, isn't it, which has a very good reputation. I used Puljula, which was ok, but there are others. Do not bother with the big ones (Niemi, Viktor Ek), unless you are planning to move a full 5brhouse, they will most probably not give a quote.

Just an update after several years: we finally used the moving service from zetorpilot's company, Kähäri Oy after pre-assessing the services from several companies. Highly recommend!
Their service is incredibly satisfying: high quality support, very careful pack with punctual and generous people. I believe they deserve a better exposure so came back to update my post for people who may need to move in the future. Also deeply appreicate what I learnt from this forum as there are so many very nice/knowledgeable people here, like inkku. :D

How is the moving service going to operate with the looming BREXIT and inability of Finns to move there easily?

feedback, whatever it is, is always appreciated. :)

there is a facebook group called Suomalaiset ulkomailla or similar, and there are occasionally comments and adverts of removal companies moving between finland and different European countries. or sometimes even private people advertising space in their removal vans.

I guess we'll have to wait and see. We (it's not my company, I'm just an employee) move lots of people to and from Switzerland and Norway without difficulty though so it should be possible without major disruption once things get sorted out.

Having said that the quantity of freight going to and from the UK is much larger than for example Switzerland - as I said, we'll just have to wait and see.

It was very nice to read biooo's post by the way 😀👍
