residence permit based on family ties

Post by yaser » Tue Sep 27, 2016 6:02 pm

Hello,

My wife have a residence permit for study for one year from (jul - 2016) to (jul - 2017), I applied for a residence permit based on family ties on (aug - 2016) at the empassy.

Can anyone tell me how it will take to have a residence permit?

Thanks,,,

No. Have you checked the published times from Migri?

Yours is probably not a high-priority application.

As has been said a thousand times, other people's wait times will not tell you anything.

The official times published by migri are far more accurate than how long it was for someone who applied last year and how long it was for someone who applied but whose circumstances aren't the same as yours.

Why not everyone? Then the migri's numbers are the best.

The residency decisions are taking some time at the moment. It took 8 months for mine to come through based on family ties. I do not think you'd be able to get a RP on the basis of family ties if your wife is studying there.

Huh? Why not? Check migri.fi faq, students, 21.

Well if his wife is a student but not a Finnish citizen, on what grounds would he get a RP? I'm honestly dont have a clue about the family ties RP. It was just an opinion.

I assume the point is that it might be too late if the family member application does not get expedited processing. I am not sure if they give it that when it has not been applied at the same time with the student application.
