Any experience with halvathinnat.com?

Post by sky2 » Sun Jan 22, 2017 2:07 pm

I thought it was a Finnish online store and made an order (~150€). Just after paying, i noticed the address was of Hong Kong.
Do they ship from Hong Kong? I guess I'd need to pay the customs duty on it then.
Any experiences?

Not with that but with others like dx.com. If they ship from outside EU you will have to pay taxes on it, at least VAT, 24%. Good thing is that you can pay it online on the customs web site after posti will send you a notice about it.

One can hope it is posti. DHL has "funny" pricing for customs stuff.

Are you liable for those taxes when is not explicitly mentioned nor is part of the price?
It's a Finnish page, for the Finnish market. There is a expectation that it is a local shop.

(Their terms and services mention an EU wharehouse, in addiction to another in Hong-Kong. For disputes, you should sort them out in Hong Kong :D )

If the package arrives from outside of EU, then you will have to pay the taxes for it. Custom handling fee is normally free if you do it yourself via customs web site, but if you leave Posti, DHL, etc to do it for you then they send a service fee for that also. I remember was like 15€ at Posti, but not sure about it.

DHL charges 40€ even if they don't do the customs stuff.
