It depends a lot on your sector and what union you would join.

If you only join the fund you get your unemployment benefits and pay less than when joining the union.

With the union you are also part of an unemployment fund, but you also get all the benefits the union offers, like specific legal advice and representation, a magazine etc. Depending on your job and if you need want that you can decide yourself.

I personally would always join the union.

No. When you join an union you at the same time apply to join a collaborating unemployment funds. The two memberships are not connected.

Because you never have to, the question is not interesting. You can join the union in your field and use YTK as the unemployment fund.

Do you have any link/reference supports this?

Example: Union of Professional Engineers which is one of the biggest and most respected unions in Finland says nothing on their web pages (https://www.ilry.fi/tietoa-insinoorilii ... rs-finland) about any sort of unemployment fund.

Am I missing anything? I would appreciate your clarification !

Yes. https://www.ilry.fi/tietoa-insinoorilii ... eer-member
When you pay the Insinööriliitto, part of goes to IAET-kassa.

If you just want the unemployment fund, then directly subscribe to IAET-kassa. By doing so, you'd save 75% of the union payments. Of course, that's only if you don't want the union benefits.
Every case is unique. You can't measure the result of your application based on arbitrary anecdotes online.

For example TEK and Union of Professional Engineers both offer unemployment fund via IAET, but that may not be included in the basic membership fee, so YMMV.

If you want join an union, you join it because you want support their work and/or think the benefits are worth it (legal help, magazines, group insurance prices). Unemployment benefits are the same if you just join an union (It does not need to be YTK, though you probably need to have some specific education background to get into better (=cheaper) one.

I had not thought about joining an union without joining "their" fund (and instead joining another one). I do not know, if the unions are legally required to offer membership with lower price for them that do not wish to join the union. I know some do.

I've been a member of the YTK for many years with some intervals of being "lomautettu" or unemployed and they have been very good, and their online services are really excellent: basically no need to queue in the phone for customer service. You can also buy legal support insurance from them but I don't know if it's as good as the unions would have (union lawyers have a good reputation, they do know their business). I'm otherwise somewhat left of centre but I have a bit of an issue about not having strike votes as a rule (some unions might organize them but it's not at all obligatory).
