Post by chuongvo » Mon Jan 30, 2017 10:13 pm

Hi room!!

I come to finland for working resident permit. beside that i also have full time study (25 hours per week) with full student benefit in vocational school .
its mean i work full time ans study full time at the same period.
So i would like to know if i can ask vero toimisto (tax office ) to reduce my tax percent to pay or not (because im considered as student also).

Thanks

There is no discounts for anything, you estimate your yearly income (work + benefits) and they calculate the % you will pay for taxes.

Same method applies to students and workers and pensioners.

Not always, like if the foreign student has an income in another country than finland (i.e. his home country) then he does not pay any taxes.

And why would that be? Excluding short term exchanges etc the student becomes tax resident and liable for world wide income. Tax treaties can limit this for some countries.
