premium beef cuts?

Post by maurello » Tue Jan 31, 2017 4:56 am

After living in Singapore we got spoiled with the excellent selection of beef, such as US Prime and Wagyu.
Any idea where we can buy it or order it in Finland? Typical cuts are ribeye, sirloin, t-bone/porterhouse.

Where? If in Helsinki, a great place would be Hakaniemen kauppahalli. You can get all the premium cuts you want.
Every case is unique. You can't measure the result of your application based on arbitrary anecdotes online.

Yes in Helsinki. Kauppahalli has good local cuts but I have never seen Wagyu or US Prime. Maybe it changed. I will drop an email to Reinin Liha to check

You can order Kobe from Stockmann. Just remember that price is nice. ~400€/kg.

Wow! and i though it was pricy in Singapore... here 1kg of Kobe grade 7/8 costs about 120EUR x kg. The meat is spectacular.
The equation won't work in Finland though. Cost is 3x up and salary is 2x times down due to tax

Since yesterday, you can get "ranch" entrecote (really thick ones with bone, and tomahawk ribeyes now at Jumbo Citymarket. They are Hereford beef raised in Finland from a company called Tamminen and the price is 26,95/kg. These huge Tamminen steaks are ussually only sold during the grilling months (April-August), so this first batch is a little bit early this year.

I also found this: https://ruokaasuomesta.fi/

It's mostly local production. Will test if the quality is good or similar to Wagyu
