I applied for Residency back in February and got rejected yesterday. So it was a long wait for a !"#¤% answer!

It doesn't mean I'll leave though

What was the reason for refusal.

The rejection was based on the fact I don't have custody of my son and That I've not been living with my partner long enough (only 18 months). The mother of my son will not give me joint custody as she's bitterly jealous of me being happy with my partner.

Oh well,No matter what I'll be staying here for many many years to come as I will watch my son grow and be with my partner. I have genuine family ties to Finland but obviously not good enough. Ive never asked for financial help from Finland, I've struggled here for 2 years with very little money and am prepared to continue to do that.

I just applied last November through paper application, does it mean that i can not monitor the progress of my application online? Are there any other way where can I see it? thank you.

I think you can not see the progress online. Perhaps other people will clarify it with more certainty

Cannot be seen online if you applied by paper. If you applied on Nov 2015, try to call and ask how is going your application, they may tell by phone if you ask nicely in Finnish Also if they need additional info will be requested by post and can be replied by post or dropping the documents into their office post box in Helsinki. Also decision will come by post. Good luck!

Hey, can you please give a bit detail like when the process started, did they ask anything, was it +ve or -ve decision. I am sure it is positive though

Yes, the decision was positive, process started on 26.01.2017, they asked for information for the period when I was unemployed and how did I support myself. I replied the same day and the decision came next day (27.01.2017).

Yes, the decision was positive, process started on 26.01.2017, they asked for information for the period when I was unemployed and how did I support myself. I replied the same day and the decision came next day (27.01.2017).

How long were you unemployed? and were you working when you applied/ the decision was made?

The estimated time for the processing is 8 months as of now. I doubt if this will be anytime sooner than that.
