my application went 'In progress' (stage 2) two months back.
I dont know the reason.

I seen one case like that before, nothing will be happening until around 8-9 months from the application date.

It really depends where you live. Mine, in Helsinki, took 11 months before they started processing.

There are something like 6 migri offices around the country. Other regions may be considerably faster than Helsinki.

Although I must point out that 10 years ago, the average waiting period advertised by migri on their website was between 18-36 months.

It does not matter where you live, mine was applied in Helsinki and it took 7.5 months. They are all placed into the same queue and taken from there by any of the Migri offices to be processed.
Only slow down could have been before if the application got stuck at local police and did not make it to Migri... but that is not the case from 2017.

I just read in another thread that a guy who had applied on 05-10-2016 has already received a positive decision on 29-03-2017. Seems that the queue is moving fast. Please update if anyone of us already has a decision. I myself applied on 25th of October and still at the first stage.
