Received an email from Migri today. They asked me to submit details of my travel after the application was submitted and supporting documents related to financial support.

I think that is an automatic generated message. They have updated their system and they are testing this.

Awesome Tess, Glad for you. Can you please elaborate how the entire passport process takes place, as timewise.

Passport process is extremely simple.

Once migri enters you into the population register as a Finnish citizen (they do this immediately when they make a positive decision on your citizenship application) then the information will be available to all Finnish authorities. This means that the police information systems see you as a Finnish citizen immediately.

To apply for a passport:

1) go to a photo shop that has connections to the police. The list is here: https://www.lupakuvienvastaanotto.fi/kuvaamoluettelo

2) Login to the police website with your bank credentials and do a passport application (takes less than 5 minutes) - https://asiointi.poliisi.fi/#main

3) Go to the nearest police station that has "lupapalvelu" (permits service desk) and show your ID. They will confiscate your residence permit and ID card at the same time because you are not allowed to use them anymore when you are a Finnish citizen.

4) You will get a text message that your passport is waiting at your nearest R-Kioski. The police station told me to expect 1 week waiting time, but mine came in 1.5 days.

5) When you go to R-Kioski, you can identify yourself with your Finnish driver's license because the police mark this as a valid ID for the case of picking up passports and ID cards (due to chicken-egg problem).

I hope that they will make decision on my application too as I lodged application on October 25th. I am having ants in my pants after knowing that they already have made decisions on October applications. Guys please continue to share the events timeline. Again congratulations to all those who have received a positive decision and good luck to us who are still waiting.

Umm, no.

Thanks, yes it does seem that they seem to have some points for Finnish usage in communications.

Niin. Siis, haluat olla suomen kansalainen vaikket pysty selvittämään asioita suomen kielellä? Sulle vielä pari vuotta odotusaikaa, kunnes pystyt käyttämään kansan kieltä.
