Shipping from Finland to the UK

Post by deadjoe » Sun May 14, 2017 9:07 am

Moi!
I need to send a bike frame from Finland to the UK, Parcelmonkey is quoting me 170€, there must be a cheaper way! Up to around 50€ or so would be fine I suppose, does anyone know of a way?

100cm x 20cm x 65cm
5kg

Kiitti,
Ty

Check with ecoparcel.eu - maybe they are cheaper, but your package is a bit long with 100 cm, that might be the problem.

(Ecoparcel has rather mixed reviews, so I would not trust them a hundred percent, but I sent a package with them myself and it worked like a charm. So use at your own risk.)

GLS are pretty good for this kind of thing. I've sent 17" alloy car wheels, 2 per parcel before with no issues.

https://gls-group.eu/FI/fi/home

I put in the dimensions you gave and for a weight of up to 15KG's (2Kg is the smaller package weight) it give me a price of 59 euro if you drop it off or send it to a GLS parcel point (Turku and maybe also in Helsinki), or add 20 euro for collection from your address during the day.

Not so bad for Finland. Terrible generally, but not so bad for Finland!

Thanks for the replies.

Ecoparcel says the volumetric weight is too big :?

A lot of parcels going from the UK into Europe get passed on to GLS, I had a lot of bad experiences with them in my old job! But they were always resolved eventually. How did you get a price from them? I can't find a calculator on the site.

Lähetä paketti verkossa = send parcel online, when you click the link you end up at https://glspaketti.fi where you select the destination country and postcode, number of parcels and weight of the heaviest parcel and accept their small print. After clicking seuraava (next) you'll get the quote of "1 paketti(a) - GB - 15 kg
Yhteensä 59.00 EUR
Yhteensä (ilman alv.) 47.58 EUR
Alv. 24 %".
