Interpol Red Notice Issued from Finland!
Interpol Red Notice Issued from Finland!
Hi,
3 years ago, the Finnish police issued the red notice for my arrest on Interpol system. Now I am arrested in Africa while traveling here. But there is no extradition agreement between Africa and Finland. What should I do to delete the interpol red notice? If Finnish police do not want to cover my travel cost, what should I do to cooperate with the police? My sales commission for the summer was paid by my boss in Finland(she is not Finnish), but after I reported to the tax office she did tax invasion, she charged me for stealing her money. The amount she charged was more or less the same amount of commission she gave me in cash.
What should I do now? I cannot leave Africa, am waiting for Finnish police to respond on this issue.
All suggestions would be highly appreciated!
Best,
Justin

You have to deal with the Finnish police yourself. The arrest warrant will not go away until the matter is settled. In the eyes of the police you are a wanted criminal already 3 years on the run. Until you deal with it, every time you show your passport at a border you might get arrested.justin723 wrote:Hi,

And a phone call or email to the police is not enough. They want to interrogate you in person. It seems unavoidable now to contact a lawyer to represent you. And whether or not your boss did some tax evasion it doesn't matter for your case at the moment. It will only be a side note in the investigation. Get a lawyer and let him contact the police.

The police did not even talk to me regarding my case. And Finnish lawyers said I have to go back to Finland by myself and cover all the cost then hire a lawyer. Is it possible to let Finnish police cover the travel cost? After I come back for the case, I have to cover all the food, accommodation and cost? I am afraid my ex-employer will set up fake evidence to charge me as a revenge, if he succeeded , what would be my sentence for 24000 Euros? I saw it would be 4 years.
Is it ok I just let police extradite me to Finland so Finnish police can cover all the costs to deal with this case?
Do I get a lawyer for free to consult, if they prosecute me?
I do not have much budget to deal with this case, if the case would be solved in 6 months, I have to pay for hotels in Helsinki for 6 months?

There even can never be one because Africa is a continent and not a legal entity.justin723 wrote:But there is no extradition agreement between Africa and Finland.

You don't have much money and want the Finnish tax payer to fund your trip back to Finland, but in your other post you were all but bragging about having some gold card at the Casino, which is for high rollers. And you appear to be able to travel all over the place.
I think both you and the person charging you sound dicey.
You were given heaps of advice in your other thread about this.
No way are you going to get free Legal Aid in Finland if you aren't even living there!
Go back and face the music. Take all the evidence you do have.

I (and most of us here) work our ass off and pay our fair tax share, nothing but for a peaceful life. I try to be helpful and friendly towards others, but when I read this I got pissed off ( normally when I see people evade taxes / launder money in tens of thousands of euros).
I am really proud of the others who are still giving feedback to these mafias. You are not only disgrace to your own country but to yourself.

That is logical. They want to interrogate you as a suspect, not get some fake information over the phone from someone who they cannot identify.justin723 wrote: The police did not even talk to me regarding my case.
That then seems the only option. And Finnish lawyers said I have to go back to Finland by myself and cover all the cost then hire a lawyer.

yesAfter I come back for the case, I have to cover all the food, accommodation and cost?
Since you're already 3 years on the run and don't seem to cooperate with the police, it probably will be some prison time. How long will depend on how well you cooperate.I am afraid my ex-employer will set up fake evidence to charge me as a revenge, if he succeeded , what would be my sentence for 24000 Euros? I saw it would be 4 years.
If there is a extradite agreement, the local officials can arrange it. If not you probably have to pay upfront. Is it ok I just let police extradite me to Finland so Finnish police can cover all the costs to deal with this case?
You might get a lawyer during your trial, but don't expect him to do more than the absolute minimum.Do I get a lawyer for free to consult, if they prosecute me?
yes.I do not have much budget to deal with this case, if the case would be solved in 6 months, I have to pay for hotels in Helsinki for 6 months?

It's not black and white. Everyone including suspects of crime fall under the social security protection guaranteed by the constitution. However, since this purpose does not mean permanent residence, it would only be available to people without assets.rinso wrote:yesAfter I come back for the case, I have to cover all the food, accommodation and cost?

My salary was 2600e, after tax I got 1900e. But my sales commission is not my salary, it was reward for my effort to bring business to my ex-employer.

Is it possible to contact the Finnish embassy in our country so that I can identify myself or contact the local police /interpol ,so I do not have to spend a lot flying back to Finland and live in a hotel for 6 or more months? In this way, can I answer questions in the Finnish embassy or local police station?

https://www.finlex.fi/fi/laki/kaannokse ... 110805.pdf(1) The person to be questioned shall himself or herself be present in the questioning.
(2) If the investigator deems that this would not inconvenience or compromise the reliability of the investigation, a party may give his or her statement through an attorney or by telephone or by other means of communication. Subject to the same prerequisites, a witness may be questioned by telephone or by other means of communication. The suspect may be questioned through an attorney only if the offence in question is not punishable by other or more punishment than a fine or imprisonment for six months.
(3) Written accounts offered by a party and witness to supplement their statement under questioning shall be accepted.
Basically it depends.

How does statute of limitations work? If time runs out for 5 years, this case will automatically closed?betelgeuse wrote:It's not black and white. Might be a wise idea to contact lawyer instead of asking for opinion online about a situation which is quite....unique.
Contact Chinese embassy as well?

Read chapter 10.justin723 wrote:How does statute of limitations work? If time runs out for 5 years, this case will automatically closed?
Re: Interpol Red Notice Issued from Finland!
Do not expect that the international arrest warrant will disappear. Although Finland might not prosecute you after this period, police in other countries will not automatically be brought up to date. Don't expect a worldwide perfect administrative system. How does statute of limitations work? If time runs out for 5 years, this case will automatically closed?
And depending on the relation between your home country and Finland, you might have problems in renewing your passport.
