Moving from EU
Hi There,
Thinking of moving to Finland and i would like to have some informations about the following.
I'm an EU Citizen ( currently living in UK ).
My employer proposed me to move to Finland for one year to " Explore the market ", working from home.
so, if i accept, i will move to finland, rent an house but have " no official income " in Finland, as my working contract is with my british employer and my salary get paid on my account...
Is that ok?

You can live and work here for three months, no questions asked. After that you must register yourself. See www.migri.fiSighthound wrote:Hi There,

For tax purposes... see tax.fi basically all your income is taxable here if you stay for over 6 months.

Re: Moving from EU
So in the First 6 months, do i need to pay any tax at all in FInland?
Also, could anyone give me any idea of the cost to rent an house?
not an apartment but an house, outside the city, possibly in the countryside..
Any area ( was thinking Kotka/kouovla )

Stay a day longer than 6 months and you pay the Finnish taxes for the first six months, claiming back the UK taxes for that period.Sighthound wrote:Thanks

Re: Moving from EU
Yes but not v ery clear to me..
if i put city Kotka, no church tax, 60K of Gross income, it came out as:
Calculation of total taxes and tax-like charges for the entire year
Total taxes and tax-like charges for the entire year 17265,48
Projected taxes for the rest of the year 17265,48
Future income 60000,00
Results of calculation
Basic rate 29,0
Additional rate 44,0
Withholding also includes pension and unemployment insurance premiums amounting to 6.15% and 1.60%.
Please add 7.75 percentage points to arrive at your actual withholding and to work out your actual take-home pay.
so how much is the % of taxes on 60K/year and how much i take home? 3560 EUR/month?

(29%+7.75%)*5000=3162.5
How did you end up to 3560?

Re: Moving from EU
So I need to apply basic rate+7.5%?
What’s the additional tax rate?
So 5k gross is 3100 eur take home?
Was hoping slighty more, around 3.5k

Thanks.
Last question is: does my employer need to pay anything else?
From my understanding, after 6 months they will need to send me my salary GROSS ( without deductions ) and i pay the taxes in FInland ( 29%+7.75% ) and that's it? nothing else?

Your employer will need to take care of the social security payments. This means mainly pension payments. You might be able to make them yourself on behalf of your employer. It can be simpler to become an entrepreneur in Finland and simply invoicing your current employer.Sighthound wrote:Last question is: does my employer need to pay anything else?
The six month information you were given was not good info. The Finnish tax liability starts from day one if your intent is to move in here permanently. However, it can be limited with the UK tax treaty during the year you make the move.Sighthound wrote:From my understanding, after 6 months they will need to send me my salary GROSS ( without deductions ) and i pay the taxes in FInland ( 29%+7.75% ) and that's it? nothing else?
