This post is about something I thought was always exaggerated, a whole neighbourhood organizing a witch hunt against a foreigner.
I thought those stories were always somehow the fault of the guy / women / family themselves, but.... now I stumbled on a Facebook post in our group for people living in a certain housing company. I used to rent there and a friend of mine still does.
This post I stumbled upon, was an information request for information about a certain foreigner with a certain amount of kids in a specific area in a specific time at this particular housing company, in other words, more than enough information to identify this person and his family.
One of my former neighbours that still lives there, took the liberty to react to this post and told the one making the request for information, that he knew this family.
The person making this request, Jaana Porrassalmi,....( and this is no slander but a warning for others to not react on this women, proof is available it was her, I copied her post), asked immediately if my former neighbour ever had problems with this family, upon what my former neighbour answered that he had not. Upon asking why, the only explanation he got was that they were old acquaintances, then the conversation stopped (on facebook).
Obviously this was not a request for information to find old acquaintances because otherwise one does not ask if problems had occurred, second if they were really old acquaintances, one would not end the conversation there. It was obvious a search for dirt on this family.
My former neighbour immediately called the family in question to warn them for this witch hunt. He also called the police but they said they could not do anything unless someone was with a knife or a gun in front of the door and the family in question should make a police report themselves. So all and all they were lucky the admin of the site was pretty quick to react on the complaint.
But seriously,.....WTF!!!!!! Really... I thought Finland left the dark ages long ago but it seems some little pockets of under developed low IQ people still exist. OMG.
But now the reason for this rant: "Is there any law in Finland that forbids this kind of on-line behaviour, I would gladly testify about the post I read (the one asking for information with enough details to identify the family) to help this family in the witch hunt against them by this Jaana Porrassalmi.
Anyone any good suggestions what they could do (I already told them to move away ) legal wise?
Have a nice summer all of you

Without knowing any details it's impossible to even guess if any laws may have been broken. If there is a suspection of that, the ones who think their rigths have been violated should turn to the police (NOT make an emergency call, that is only for acute emergencies) with the information they have and ask them to investigate. They will then determine if there are grounds for progressing with the issue further. Note that making claims to the police may lead to charges of slander, so one must stick to the facts only. Also, the people concerned should not involve themselves in any "counter-campaigns", online or offline. That can quickly turn the whole issue on its head, with them being the ones under investigation.
