I think I've read almost all 91 pages of this thread in random order  Interesting things!

It seems there is not a 100% consistent or clear pattern with the placements in the que and decision time, though; some theories were born from the few patterns that have been found.

Some of the processing seems to be increasingly automated.
Most notable, the apparent processing changes during/immediately after ''korona aika'' appear to have been most significant.
2020 - 2021 applications seem to have longest waiting times.
As of September 2023, it is not always required to visit service point. (This is situational and would require "strong authentication" credentials to not be required to visit.)
Perhaps there have been more speedy (6month/under decisions) in year 2023 compared to years prior.

Anyway, I'll join the fun! Who wants to race? :ochesey:

Application finalised/submitted: First week December 2023
Migri visit: Second week December 2023
Stage 2: Second week December 2023
Placement in que: 8400s
Hello!
So is that so that you have been moved to the stage 2 right after the migri visit? This has happened to me as well (applied October 2022) and apparently it is not that common
Yes; this is exactly the case! I think I have read your posts on this matter and it seemed you were the only one to experience this. (Sorry if I'm confusing you another individual)

If memory serves, I've had the same thing happen with all of my residence permit applications too. Immediately after service point visit, I remember they were released for processing on the same day. So, I was probably even expecting this to be the case for citizenship as well. ..untill I started reading posts on here :?

Okay! However, it is the first time it happens to my migri application and it felt super weird, I called and emailed migri to check but the response has always been that the application is fine :D Nice to meet someone with the same experience here :D

Interesting. And do I understand correctly that you're still waiting?

I wonder if there are similarities in our applications.
Care to share more details about yours? For example: service point, home country, current region, etc.

From US, came as a student. Been building towards my chosen career (which is related to my degree) ever since. Bounced between Lappi, Kainuu, Pohjois Pohjanmaa and now settling in a small town on the West Coast.

Yes, I am still waiting, currently on 15th month. I am from Russia. I also came as a student to Oulu, then moved south and have been working almost the whole time in the field related to the degree. Applied in Lahti service point in October 2022. I am on the family member residence card atm. So I think our cases are quite different :? My guess is that for my case someone might have ”misclicked” it into processing, as was suggested in this thread. I think it is quite unusual though that this has happened to yours every time :?

Ok. Slightly different cases with ours.

I spoke with some of my Russian friends who came to Finland around the same time (originaly to study). One applied in Oulu and other in Rovaniemi. Both took approximately 6 months. (one application started August 2022 and other in February 2023.) One guy documented absolutely everything and that also included some relationships in Finland to justify his A permit, along with his work, etc. He started around 4k in que and received decision in the 1k. The other included only bare minimum in her application, started between 6-8k in que, and received decision in the 4k. Neither remember how quickly they went to stage 2. Both had 4yr A residence permit - not permanent.

I wonder if the area that one is living in Finland has an effect. Or how much the service point matters, etc.
Maybe having a permanent residence permit could also some how affect the processing?

@ogunkanmbi65 congratulations 🎊 🎊 🎉 🎉 🎉 🎉. A quick question, did the monthly reminder migri sends about your application change in the month that you moved to In Progress? I just received a different email than the previous months and I wonder if that's a sign. Thanks.

I don't think it was expedited, this person proved identity in October 2023 and now just time has come for people who applied in October.

I think so too. Just wanted to see what could be a reason to expedite in his/her case.

I can say what does NOT work:
My employer sent an official letter with fast processing request due to job specifics - Migri responded - this is not good enough reason.
I sent a request due to work travelling (came close to maximum allowed amount of absence but still must travel for work) - Migri responded - this is not good enough reason.

In my case my request to expedite was granted because another family member’s application for residence permit that was currently in stage 2 and the outcome depended on whether I was a citizen or not. I hired a lawyer and the lawyer submitted the request and it was approved. My family member received positive decision on residence permit the same day I received citizenship. It was expensive to hire the lawyer but worth it for helping me navigate the family member permit where the person didn’t fit migri’s very narrow definition of family.

Thanks, this is helpful. Congratulations to both of you.
