Nope, When I came here that time I had 4 years Germany schengen visa.
Schengen visa is a tourist visa. Migri estimate time for your case is 29 months. I came here from Hong Kong, before coming, I went to finnish embassy in Hong Kong, applied for a residence permit, got it in 2 months, after that went to Finland, so for my case estimate is 21 months

Hi all,

This is actually my first time posting here, but I have been following this forum for quite some time :) Many useful info have been shared in this forum, which are really useful (or at least it helps me to be patiently waiting for a decision, knowing I’m not the only one 🙂)

Finally my day has come (quite surprising, to be honest, because I received my decision at 6:30pm, on the same day I sent additional payslips etc.). Below is my timeline with queue number. Hope it will help for data collection!

Background: Came to Finland on 2018 as a student - 3 year visa B + 2.5 years visa A (family ties). Have been working part-time during study, full-time since 2021. Currently, back to study and working part-time. My country is not on the list.

In Germany there is no Finnish embassy. Therefore, I need to come Finland using my Schengen visa to apply Finland Visa. Then I go back to Germany. It is the right way to do.
I was not start to stay here in Finland with my Germany Schengen Visa. I moved to Finland from Germany when I got my Finnish Visa.

This is you need to ask migri, estimate time for your application, because, technically, you applied in Finland

As I understand, when estimator asks you if you arrived without residence permit means "are you asylum seeker?". And it basically goes to separate queue. That's why in this thread people mention another people got citizenship fast even if they applied for RP in Finland

You are correct. I don't know why that other user here keeps on insisting that wrong info. I know so many who applied rp while inside finland and still got citizenship within 5-6 months. Also, Kamu chatbot info is also more up to date. It's the refugees who get the unusually long duration of processing (or others who have complicated cases in migri's POV).

I dont think there is a queue for asylum seekers. Sometimes, usual delay for those people only b.c. it takes time to identify them.
There is also a hint on migri website about this
"If you are an EU-citizen, answer ‘No’, because you are not required to have a residence permit."

i.e. just revert this: if a person from non-EU and did not have a residence permit

I know one more person how came here on a travel visa and now also waiting 23 month. I also get used that migri process is quite clear, there if asylym seekers need to wait longer they would mention that. This is Finland by the end of the day, and all laws and processes are clear. People who came here from countries where everything done with bribes or relatives support usually had a difficulty to understand this, and start to build own theories: you need work to get citezenship faster etc etc
The best way, of course, is to ask migiri.

And yes, a lot of people with and without residence permit get citezenship in 5 months, they just managed get to a faster queue (looks like by chance)
