Finnish for Foreigners

Post by Mook » Fri Aug 06, 2004 11:01 am

The time of the year has come to register for a Finnish course for the Autumn.

I'm considering doing Suomi 2 at the university, but I understand that the courses are quite popular and that registration is a bit of a scrum.

Does anyone know how likely am I to get on it? Without queuing for hours before registration opens.

I have another option that's a little more expensive, but I can book it in advance.

I think somebody posted here recently that you can register by fax or email...

Possibly worth a phone call to check.

Ah, must pay more attention. It was this thread

My company is going to pay, so I had someone phone up this morning, but the only suggested registration method was "in person", or by sending a proxy.

The literature I have says that registration is on the 13th or 14th of September (depending on the course) between 16:30 and 18:30

Incidentally, I have the Kieli Käytöön (the blue one) for sale in mint condition if anyone wants to buy it off of me.

If anyone is interested pm me.

If I don't sell it, I may get motivated to take yet another Finnish course... :ochesey:

you should be through that in something like 100 hours....

the kuopio suomi 2 course says 50 hours previous study. and the registration is also via email..;)
the suomi3 one runs through to the end of the year and then in the new year suomi4 starts...is it also like this in helsinki??

i can also recommend the "from start to finnish" book from leila white, but some stuff is really strangely explained; it could be done considerably more concisely. but it's generally good.
