moon oikias
soot vääräs
soon kans vääräs
moomma oikias
tootta vääräs
noon aivan mettäs!
[How the Ostrobothnians conjugate the 'be' verb
I am right
you are wrong
he is also wrong
we are right
you are wrong
they are totally lost!]
Just as a note this joke shows how the dialect condences the 'minä olen'. In Helsinki it is already 'mä oon' and thus m'oon isn't *that* difficult. Needless to say the difference between written "book Finnish" and colloquial dialects is great.
So even if you've passed 4-5 Finnish courses and end up somewhere you don't understand half, don't worry. Some dialects are impossible for Finns to mutually understand too

Cheers, Hank W.
