Pinecones in produce section

Last winter, we saw pinecones in the produce section of the grocery store. Are they supposed to be decorative or do you eat them? Thanks!

Primarily decorative. Pine (Pinus pinea, not the pine in Finnish forests) cones also contain edible seeds, "pine nuts" (pinjansiemen), albeit those are more easliy available in the same section as other nuts and seeds.

I was going to ask that. Why would anyone put decorative tree parts in food section? I almost bought it. :D
