I've only taken one Finnish course at the University of Helsinki and it was EXCELLENT. My teacher was Anna Maija Luomi and she is incredible. She's natural-born teacher, enthusiastic, knowledgable, entertaining.....and best of all, she teaches the entire class in English.
Some may have a problem with her using so much English but I think it's essential for the learning process...especially at level 1.
Anyways, she's teaching level 1 in the spring and I highly recommend you take her class if you're planning to signup. She's doing Monday/Wednesday classes from 18.15 to 17.45
I know there are MANY other great Finnish teachers at the university so anyone you choose will probably be great but I can personally guarantee that you will love Anna Maija.

For those who plan on taking Suomi 1 @ U of Helsinki...
I just started the beginner course with her. She is a good instructor but she does move along pretty quickly. I'm glad there was a holiday this week so I can catch up on the vocabulary. Anyone else in her class?

I have learned silence from the talkative, toleration from the intolerant, and kindness from the unkind; yet, strangely, I am ungrateful to these teachers.
I came too late on registration day - so they punished me and I'm now in the course which starts at 16:30 - with another teacher.Riko wrote:I just started the beginner course with her.
