In Peshawar, when I said the base is the same, it is fried onion+garlic+tomato which is then ground to form the masala. Then the spices are added when cookin the veggie (or cheese or deep fried spinach balls) or the meat (balls or chicken or mutton) etc....
Mostly, I am trying to follow that idea as It makes my cooking faster..but it works only for North Indian dishes..
For south Indian dishes, the base is completely different - Tamarind paste and dal.
Anyways, I thought that the lunch was good at CP(once, will visit later) and Peshawar(have visited umptteen times as it is close to dive than CP)!!

Where is this Peshwar of which you speak? And is it possible to procure from there the delightful Peshwari naan? Which otherwise seems not to have reached these shores.

It's above Minimani, opposite the Olari Prisma on Kuitinmäentie. Go in to Minimani and take the lift/stairs up. If Minimani is closed then you can access the restaurant from outside. Carpark outside is free. Buses are plentiful. The place is huge, you can't miss it. I think the lunch buffet is 8,20€ (or something close). At weekends the buffet is a bit more expensive. Kids are cheaper (which is crazy, since my three each eat twice what I can manage).

My review was that it wasn't something I liked or cared to return to again :/ I can tolerate the Satay chicken every once in awhile....but yeah, I really expected better from them.
My husband has no problem with them, though.

We went to Curry Palace for the buffet lunch.
Not exactly interstellar, but perfectly edible.

I like the fried noodles ar wrong noodle bar. They don't seem bland to me.
Don't worry, it only feels kinky the first time....

I have a beef that no matter what restaurant you go to, it ends up tasting like the sauce or flavoring came from an Uncle Ben's bottle.

I actually thought the Mt. Everest Himalayan was pretty good. At least the dishes tasted different from one another.
