I found a very good website with all the finnish slang words, a nice read for those of you who have nothing else better to do during the day or those that wanna impress their finnish mates in that trendy bar in downtown helsinki! !!
The site is excellent, has a 3-generation slangi 1910/slangi 1950/slangi 1970/finnish dictionary among other things.
Some of the words are used still today, I can pretty well a 1960's, but modern kids=??? and my dad's 1920's streetspeak is about as bizarre as Estonian tv...
Cheers, Hank W. sitting here like a lemon looking for a gin.
Ruksi is a cross that looks like an X, a.k.a. "rasti". As everybody knows, you're supposed to use those - instead of "ticks"/"checks" - on Finnish questionnaires. The one that looks like a plus sign is called "risti". Those Veikkaus people have it all mixed up though.
What was the other one left? Oh yes, tarakka. That's a cargo rack (on a bicycle or moped).
