Vantaa Airport Parking
Vantaa Airport Parking
Hi - just searched but couldn't find athread on parking in Vantaa
Is there an internet service that allows you to get deals on 3-4 day parking? Preferably under cover?
I find the parking good there but when extending a worktrip over a w/e, it gets quite expensive to park at €20 a day....
Cheers
Liam

There's a calculator option here that lets you work out in advance how much it will be.
Depending on the length of the trip, sometimes a taxi can be cheaper than the parking fee!

Re: Vantaa Airport Parking
where are you parking for 20e a day? The website shows the different prices.
P3 is quite nice (the round car park opposite the old domestic terminal) since it's much cheaper than P2 but the walk is nicer. I even use it when flying finnair since the walk is not that much more than for P2 but prices are much lower.I think for some durations it's even cheaper than P5 - which is an outside walk to the terminal.
I have sometimes parked at P4 but it's a long walk, but worth it (eg for 3 weeks away).

Re: Vantaa Airport Parking
Thanks - yes I normally parkin P2 which is €20 / day for the first 3 days then starts to get cheaper per day - even P3 is €18 but maybe gets cheaper after fewer days.
Decided to get a taxi for convenience this time. Had wondered if there were deals because 1) last time no space in outdoor parks so the barriers wouldn't open and after after fruitless trips around looking for alternatives, I ended up short of time so parked in P2 2) you can't move for Private car parking deals around UK airports.

PS Thanks for the useful link

Re: Vantaa Airport Parking
I read some story in the newspaper about parking at the flamingo spa complex which is part of jumbo shopping centre and then taking a bus or taxi to the airport 2km away.
There is also this private company as well as the normal airport parking http://www.lentoparkki.fi/
But there are not a lot of deals since most people take taxis. You can easily compare the number of taxis going (or rather not going) into a similar sized airport (eg Birmingham) with those driving into helsinki airport and the huge outdoor carparks at BHX compared to what HEL has.

I usually use P4(a or b) on the spring and autumn thats 35euro a week l think. In summer and winter l use P5 (which is covered) at 62e per week because either the car park is full of other cars or snow.

I heard there would be some problem with parking at flamingo nowadays if you're not a customer. Not sure though.
You can also calculate a cheaper price at finavia's website http://www.helsinki-vantaa.fi/to-and-from/parking although the roofed parking areas are of course more expensive but still 20€ per day sounds awful much to me!
If you want cheap parking its either http://www.lentoparkki.fi/ 8€/day or http://www.lentopysakointi.fi/ 5€/day. No parking halls but secure anyway.
Some people also take the bus!

Re: Vantaa Airport Parking
- the one advantage of trips from Finland is that you can set off very early in the mornings. Therefore even with pre check in and getting there 45 mins before the flight, I'd have to set off straight from the nightclub!!!Anneli33 wrote:Some people also take the bus!
Thanks for the tips on the cheaper off site parking - I often try combing business trips with a long weekend back home so these are useful!
