Where is it even mentioned the word "Tuesday" in the whole article? Why your post seem like you are happy about it? I'd highly argue that any Finnish would like to leave EU for Russia..

What, you got tired of participating in the other thread about the same link?
As he persisted, I was obliged to tootle him gently at first and then, seeing no improvement, to trumpet him vigorously with my horn.

I got a word from Putin- next Tuesday at 12:03. All prepare your passports for the referendum. If your passport is not stamped with a special referendum stamp by 13:03 the same day - you have a problem!

Re: Finland to revert to being part of the USSR next Tuesday
I thought the passport has to be stamped with the "I agree" stamp, otherwise - even if you participated, you are in trouble.

No this is not true! We live in a democracy, do not we?amahdy wrote:I thought the passport has to be stamped with the "I agree" stamp, otherwise - even if you participated, you are in trouble.
Thus , however you vote , the count will be: 99.98 % in favor of the motion.

You do not understand the true meaning of the Stamp, my friend. The stamp in your hand is power - one stamp goes "approve", the other " prohibit" . And it is very important which one is used on your application.Upphew wrote:What it is with Russians and stamps?!? Being serious, it still makes me uneasy too. These days one can make ( or forge , for that matter) any company seal in about 15 minutes, but they are still considered important. It is next to impossible to open a company account without a seal. And yet legally it is possible and a company seal is not required. I believe it is a thing that goes very deep into the Soviet mentality.

I once asked that exact question -- about Finns.Upphew wrote:What it is with Russians and stamps?!?

Funny story . A friend of mine managed to keep an old USSR passport with a stamp confirming that he had taken part in the referendum on independence of Estonia........... I all ask him for a copy (if he still has it) and will post it here...

Mental, y'see?
Made in Russia. This is part of Urals (crappy motorbikes) story and history. One of their selling points even, it's cool and unique to have something made in Russia. Stereotypes exist for a reason and you know what the stereotype about Russian quality is, right?
Let's think about this for a minute.
Would you buy a Russian (car, airliner, watch, television, parachute, ski lift, computer, food stuffs, clothes, camera, pacemaker, elevator)? No, you wouldn't, because you know they are all likely low quality. You know what, Russians wouldn't either. Given a choice, they avoid their own national brands like the plague. Ural sells almost no bikes in their home country. Think that is coincidence? Russians know what Russian quality is. Want to make a Russian laugh? Tell him Americans pay $12,000 (that's 400,000 rubles) for a Ural motorcycle! Want to hear some creative cursing? Ask a Russian what he thinks about the quality of Russian products!

As a matter of fact, the original Ural bikes were a knock-off of a wartime BMW. My father had the original German one in 1953 (the ones which were supplied under the reparation settlement) . ...so the Americans pay for ancient BMWs .

Urals were actually BMW licence sold to USSR in the 1939s when the 3rd Reich was in a very cooperative mood.

I read a different story- in 1939 5 pieces of BMW R 71 were bought in Germany through Sweden and subsequently were used to make copies. Which way it did happen does not really matter, it is still an ancient German bikePursuivant wrote:Urals were actually BMW licence sold to USSR in the 1939s when the 3rd Reich was in a very cooperative mood.
