Finding Pussy Willows

Does anyone know the best place to find pussy willows? I wanted to cut some of the branches so my daughter and I can make some virvon varvon wands but I have no idea where to look. With this crazy winter are they even out yet? FYI, I am in eastern helsinki around kulosaari.

Apple picking for fun

Hi, Does anyone know of a place that has U-pick apple picking around the Helsinki/Espoo area. I would like to take my child to a apple orchird, climb the ladder and actually pick off the tree. Picking them off the ground is a bit boring. Thanks!

Re: How much to have a mini schnauzer in Helsinki?

This is an interesting subject for me because my daughter and I are considering getting a Bichon Havanais. I have been doing some research on Finnish kennels/ breeders. We have no desire to breed or turn our future dog into a show dog, we just want a nice family dog. How is it that they determine th...

Re: Having a C-Section in Finland?

I was in a similar situation. I was seeing a private. OB/GYN and found out that there was something wrong with the baby. My OB who also works at the public hospital ( as most do) saw me the next day at the the public hospital and there after he was my PUBLIC OB/GYN. I don't know how it was done but ...

Re: Where to find Art Class for in Helsinki?

When my daughter that age I wasn't able to find any formal classes in anything other than Jumppa. Most classes in Finland start at three. By the way what is the art school in eastern helsinki that you were talking about? My daughter in four and would really enjoy an art class!

Re: Espresso Talk

Yes, putting espresso in the fridge or freezer will make the espresso last longer but , if you are a regular user you should keep it tightly sealed at room temp in order to not loose taste. Having good espresso is essential! But if you have a bad machine no espresso in the world will make it good. A...

Re: Nursing at Stadia Polytechnic

This is all good info to know! One more thing, the enterence criteria states:

"Applicants must have a command of Finnish in basic level 2 or higher. Furthermore, a pass in the language test is required."

What is basic level 2? What is the language test like?

Nursing at Stadia Polytechnic

I am thinking about applying to the nursing program at Stadia Polytechnic. The program takes 3.5 years to complete and I would earn the Finnish equvialent to an RN. The program is in English but I would have to have "basic level 2 finnish skills" and be tested on them during the application process....

Espresso Talk

I am curious to know what kinds of home espresso machines people in finland use. I have a love affair with my Rancillio Silvia machine ( a birthday gift from my husband who would get so angry every time I spent 4 euros on a latte). Does anyone out there have a Silvia ? If so, have you ever tried to ...
