Re: Applying for Citizenship 2024
Hello everyone, I have applied in the last week of March and queue started at 90xx and went up to 91xx and now came back to 90xx. I checked few diary numbers before and after mine and found that atleast 2 applications got their decision already which might had been submitted after me as diary numbe...

Re: Extra ventilation on window?
Does anyone what this is? Maybe I can change it to an exhaust fan? I want machine ventilation from my dining room to kitchen as the building ventilation is poor and unsuitable for indoor grilling. Normally there is an exhaust fan in the kitchen which sucks air out of the kitchen. In new apartment b...

Re: Applying for Citizenship 2024
I don't get that priority !"#¤% in decision-making. When our applications are piled up from 2022 they spend their resources to process new applications faster. What would you prefer? that the easy to process applications just queue up behind the harder ones where information is hard to verify ...

Re: Applying for Citizenship 2024
As long as your travels were listed under "The following periods of absence from Finland do not interrupt your continuous period of residence:" here: https://migri.fi/en/how-to-calculate-the-period-of-residence , it should be all good and they shouldn't be able to use it against you. Even...

Re: Applying for Citizenship 2024
Has anyone here applied first, and then had their spouse apply for the citizenship application? I want to know what the chances are of receiving the decision together in this case. Has anyone experienced this situation? Yes, somebody wrote about exactly this situation earlier in this thread. Work y...

Re: Applying for Citizenship 2024
Airlines have to pay a hefty fine when they bring anyone inside Schengen who does not have permission to enter and gets refused to enter Schengen, so they are checking carefully whether you are permitted to enter. I have never seen the airline staff check my passport very carefully. As a UK passpor...

Re: Applying for Citizenship 2024
I am wondering if this won’t create potential issues, as I am assuming that I most likely won’t get a decision that soon - before September. So it’s maybe safe to travel abroad during the summer? In your case I think the summer days will be long gone before a decision. Somebody here did write that ...

Re: Insurance + car driving
Assuming your relative lives in Finland and you borrow their car: Car insurance in Finland is linked to the car and unlike the UK there is no "named driver" concept and having to give the insurance company a list of drivers (with them recalculating the premium based on who might drive the ...

Re: Discussing Groceries Stores & Prices
My best tip is to buy the bread which is almost at its sell by date. If you find the right shop they will set a bag with about 8 packets of bread for 2e. If you put it in the freezer straight away it's as good as paying full price. A few weeks ago I had a bag like this with two Runebergs cakes inclu...

Re: Applying for Citizenship 2024
I'm sorry if this is obvious, but it's still not clear to me how one gets this data from the Kamu chatbot. Are you programmatically looping over all possible values and recording the response or is there a straightforward way to get all this data from the chatbot? Yes they are. Put chrome into deve...

Re: Delay in Opening S-Pankki Bank Account
S bank are probably the worst for handling customers who don't match the profile of most people in Finland. Some years ago they were even denying some accounts/credit cards to people without Finnish ID even though the law says that EU passports should be equally valid. https://yle.fi/a/3-8928146 I d...

Re: Applying for Citizenship 2024
After collecting the data for a big number of applications and putting it on a graph it becomes apparent that there are three queues. As I pointed before (almost?) all the people writing in this forum are from the blue queue. Indeed, each queue has it's own processing speed and processing "pat...

Re: Applying for Citizenship 2024
for people from “our” queue I don't understand the idea of "our" queue either. If there are three queues why don't the people who are not in "our" queue post anything here with their different experience of applying for citizenship? Do they sign some kind of NDA .. "we are ...

Re: Applying for Citizenship 2024
there are three queues, one of which moves faster than the others. I have never understood this "three queues" concept. Kamu returns a position in the queue. How can you tell from that number which "queue" somebody is in? Do you instead mean that people join the queue at differe...
