Re: Bilingual kindergarten: advice/recommondations?

From your other posts I get the idea that she would at least very possibly be going to school here in about three years time. My hunch would be that a Finnish language day care would be good to achieve sufficient skills before that.

(but no, I do not have relevant experience)

Re: Historical dual citizenship?

The relevant law isn't available free online. Later laws at least did make a difference between citizenship acquired because you were simply born in another country and one that had required some sort of active participation or consent. I can only say that i find it possible that he did lose it at t...

Re: Paternity, child support, and contracts

Bit late on this but if your friend decided to do that, he should try to get the woman who isn't the biological mother to adopt the child. That would could all the legal links between the father and child. I don't know if the contract suggested would be enforceable (anyway, the other party might bec...

Re: Invoice from free online movie

As Upphew also pointed out it can be a personal data act violation. If you have something to back that up, please share. Otherwise I say that at most that creates some obligations, if you maintain those records systematically. I doubt also it makes any difference from that point of view if they ope...

Re: Invoice from free online movie

As Upphew pointed out, recording your phone calls isn't even illegal in this country. It may be considered good manners to say you to that, but it is no violation of any communication law to if you don't. As Upphew also pointed out it can be a personal data act violation. If you have something to b...

Re: Invoice from free online movie

You seem to be operating based on some foreign concept of admissibility of evidence. The default in Finland is that illegally acquired evidence is acceptable. As Upphew pointed out, recording your phone calls isn't even illegal in this country. It may be considered good manners to say you to that, ...

Re: Invoice from free online movie

In case you can't read those articles, the guy who lost his case ignored two of those demand letters and was adjudicated by the court to pay the original 600 demand plus 12 416,50 in court costs. He agreed to pay. It was not a court decision. Possible that he feels sorry about it now, but I don't k...

Re: insurance company in English

If you do not care about language then just google translate and write them in Finnish. Avoid personal contact. That trick works. Maybe one is able to get the insurance policy online (if one has the banking codes with identification) google translating to English when necessary to be able to unders...

Re: YTK or Union ?

If you want join an union, you join it because you want support their work and/or think the benefits are worth it (legal help, magazines, group insurance prices). Unemployment benefits are the same if you just join an union (It does not need to be YTK, though you probably need to have some specific ...

OK - where's your apology For what exactly? He made no reference to you, your family or actually any other real person either. and realization that - in the future - you better realize you are not alone on this planet? You're not alone either. Also you're not particularly alone in the group that ha...

Re: Private health insurance in finland

When my wife was hospitalised (and passed away there) on a trip home (from Australia) I was initially told (after I'd got home) that there was a bill of some 20,000 euro which needed to be paid, however in discussion with the hospital staff they decided to reclassify her as "returning home&quo...
