You were not wrong. Quite recently there was a poll, and the most trusted institution in people´s minds was the police. I am just afraid that it will suffer when their funding in constantly cut.If I was wrong about people generally trusting the cops here, I stand corrected.

Re: The cops
Heavens, our police has improved language skills very quickly. It seems we have had some efficient courses lately... "Question" used as a verb – I must applaud that "police".

Re: Baby names. Help?
Chastity seems a good name  Don´t laugh. Those names were fashionable (to some degree) also in Finland 100+ years ago. My aunt´s name was Lempi Siviä (something like Chaste Love), another one was Aina Tyyni (Always Calm). My uncle was Onni Armas (Dear Happiness), and another one was Sulo T...

It does not necessarily mean that they are interested in YOU, or they are interested in you in a romantic or sexual way. She was your tutor, it was her work (duty) to be interested in you. Sorry.i really like how finnish women are so direct when they're interested in you

Re: Baby names. Help?
Is Leelia a real name? Some people have named their girl Leelia (not many). Certainly not popular. To me "Leelia" still is the (invented) type who in a women´s magazine gives "good advice" to people who are heart broken or have serious problems like "should I choose A or B?...

Re: Baby names. Help?
To me these are: Girl: Aune ---> "I should check if Aune is doing OK in the old people´s home..." Ilja (or is this a boy's name??) ---> A RUSSIAN boy´s name. A NONO. Aija ---> One of these inventions parents had in the 1970´s. Aino ---> An all time favourite, has been popular for hundreds ...

Pulla with coconut???
Well, I guess, why not...
My favourite pulla is just plain old pulla. With a butter/sugar eye in the middle.

Re: Boxes of tissues in Finland
Some place must sell them because restaurans ladies rooms have them. I usually just buy them packed in plastic. I guess there is 100 or 200 tissues in one package, I have not checked. Then they sell those little pocket size packages, also packed in plastic. I have one package in every purse. I guess...

Re: Cost of sleeping in the hospital ?
Finland is supposed to be more-or-less as expensive as America without insurance or some sort of cover.. Says who? Yes, if you want a specialist the same day you have to go private. Not if you need a general practitioner and are ready to wait a few hours. But if you need a hospital (most hospitals ...

Re: Cost of sleeping in the hospital ?
You don´t have to call and ask. I have been in and out of hospitals for the past year, and initially it is that 32 €/day (all tests, x-rays, TTs, PETs – whatever they have included). Nowadays I pay 15 €/day, special price for regulars.Just call and ask them

It is 32,50 €/day. But if you fail to cancel in time or don´t show up they will send you a 33,80 € bill.
