I get my beans from this place which are sold at Cafe Art here in Turku. It's the best coffee I've found in Finland and one of the best I've ever had. At least it ranks up there with Intelligentsia and Metropolis espresso beans in Chicago where I moved from. Before ...

Yup, I'm in Turku. But Ninja does look like it's worth checking out next time I'm in Helsinki. Thanks for the tipEP wrote:Hansa mall? Is that in Turku? In Helsinki and Espoo (and I bet also in Vantaa) there are shops named NINJA. They full of hair acessories.

But I'd guess that you won't find those thingamajings there either.
Hehe..thingamajings >_>
Yeah I've seen this place in the Hansa mall. I think they carry only about 3 gazillion types of shampoos/conditioners/gels/sprays but little to none in the way of accessories ...

Re: Finnish equivalent of Ulta (American cosmetics chain)?
No, they're different. Ulta carries a bunch of different brands unlike Body Shop which carries only the house brand to my knowledge. Plus Ulta's not as super-frickin'-overpriced as TBS. I'm basically looking for a place that has a huge selection of hair accessories like barrettes and headbands. Ulta ...

Finnish equivalent of Ulta (American cosmetics chain)?
To American expats that know the chain I'm referring to, is there something similar in Finland? It's a chain that has only cosmetics, salon merch, and body/hair care supplies. I know I can find these things in any department store, but I was looking for something more specific like Ulta.

cinnamon gum
Hey all,
Does cinnamon gum exist here or should I just stop my search now? Sweet Moses...I've seen some unusual (to me) flavors like salmiakki, pine tar, various flavors like vanilla-grapefruit, pear-pommelo, banana, pineapple, black currant, etc. yet I've not spotted any cinnamon flavored gum ...

Even if the wife is a non-EU national or does that apply only if the wife happens to already be in the Finnish system?sinikettu wrote:

question about name change and residence permit
Hi, I'm a US citizen marrying a Finn and I was wondering what the protocol was for those who change their name as a result of marriage and then apply for a residence permit afterward. Is it possible to apply for the residence permit with the new last name while the documentation with the new name is ...

need a psychiatrist for rx
I was wondering if anyone had any info to share on where I could get prescriptions for antidepressants that I need to restart. I'm on a tourist visa at the moment (from the US) but might be applying for residence based on family ties. I'm not as familiar with the private health care system here ...

Re: waffle iron
..aha!
but they look a bit skinny. The rectagular Belgian waffles are much thicker.
I have seen a sandwich machine that doubled up as a waffle iron (it came with two sets of irons), but can't remember where.
Yep, Penelope, I was thinking the same with the waffle makers I've seen so far...they ...

Do you make your own waffle batter from scratch or from a mix? In the US I always used mixes because they were always available and made things sooo easy...

waffle iron
Hi,
I'm looking to buy a waffle iron as a gift. The only place I thought to check so far was Clas Ohlsson, which they had but they had only one kind and it made heart-shaped waffles while I was hoping to find one that made more traditional square Belgian style kinds. I live in Turku but travel ...
