Re: Another speeding/ fine question/ Unmarked car

The distance between the *80-100-80-60 is less than a kilometer!!! And right before the *80, is a 60 zone. The normal speed at the exact location (and I have been driving for 5 years is 100Km/hr). They could've just kept it 60 till the work place is over!!! You do know that the speed limit starts R...

Re: Processing Time Checker

I suggest you ask them what's going on (and with your question include the information that the indicated queuing time hasn't changed for months).

Re: Another speeding/ fine question/ Unmarked car

Anyway, I am just paranoid now! And I am sick of this country, its taxation on everything, and the fines, anything that helps them defraud the citizen! Personally, don't care about the broad! I love my kid though, but once it really gets to me, I need to dump all and move. Might want to try and fol...

Re: Anybody moved from UK to Finland

AFAIK there's no "handedness" in tail lights (they're not directional), European spec is European spec, i.e. should be ok in Finland by default. Ask trafi.fi to be sure https://www.trafi.fi/en/road/buying_and ... _a_vehicle .

Re: Anybody moved from UK to Finland

If the car is European spec otherwise, only headlights need to be changed to LHD ones, so that they point the right way (i.e. not in the face of incoming traffic). If you're not planning to eventually take the car back to UK (or use it yourself until scrapped), I wouldn't bother, there's little mark...

Re: Single custody / Legal discrimination of Finnish officials

I simply don’t know what to do?! If you haven't already, hire a lawyer specialized in custody cases (which you should've done when things started to go wrong). A layperson cannot really battle against the officials and expect to win. It is very easy to do or say something that will actually hurt on...

Re: Need help understanding travel card and HSL ticket system

1) What's the difference between Season tickets and Value tickets? (excluding cost) Season ticket is valid for a given period (no matter how often it is used), value ticket is valid as long as it has paid value on it (each trip is paid individually). The former is better (i.e. cheaper) for daily us...

Re: Moving from Mexico

We have been considering Tampere also, thanks to the kind suggestion of another member of this forum. We all loved it! We were sticking to Helsinki mainly due to the weather and higher temperatures. The difference in temperature is negligible, it's ~160km between the places, Helsinki is by the sea ...

Re: Planning on moving to Finland in the future. I've got some questions.

Being a musician is the same as anywhere else - the vast majority will barely make a living, if even that, having to have a "real job" (and/or being on wellfare) is the norm. Whatever you end up studying, make sure that the degree is transferable to the rest of Europe. The more people-facing a job i...

Re: Planning on moving to Finland in the future. I've got some questions.

In your situation, if after the studies still thinking about moving, I'd be looking at Denmark (and Switzerland, albeit it's non-EU). There's nothing in Finland that's inherently better, but it's colder and darker during much of the year, further away from the rest of the Europe and the language is...

Re: Coming to Finland....some help needed.

There's no inter-city bus terminal at the airport, you will have to travel to Helsinki city center (unless boarding a bus somewhere along its route). See https://matkahuolto.fi/en/, https://www.onnibus.com/home and https://www.vr.fi/cs/vr/en/frontpage . Depending on where you're heading, a train or ...

Re: Coming to Finland....some help needed.

Locals pretty much mind their own business and don't care about what you do , as long as you're not being an a-hole towards them. Finns are not religious, at least not in any fanatical way. You don't have to do anything special, and similarly you should extend the same courtesy to others, i.e. not t...

Re: Moving from Mexico

Clearly the most important thing - and also the biggest hurdle - is getting a job. With all the expertise you may have you're still competing against loads of other viable applicants, most of whom do not need a visa or any other additional effort from the employer to hire them. Even though there bei...
