Re: Seeking casual football!
If they want something IRL but forget to mention where they are, I take this as a strong message we're not ready for IRL yet.

Re: Moving to Finland with a 12 year old - school question
And for an actual longer term view, unless his career will be in IT his chances of finding any job in Finland will be close to zero unless he will be able to work in a Finnish-only environment. Maybe not quite so bad? https://www.workinfinland.com/ (though looks like some part of those ads also req...

Re: Finnish on Duolingo
I wanted to help improve it for others, so I went through the entire Duolingo course in Finnish and submitted hundreds of corrections. It is really poorly designed and I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone. Is that even something you SHOULD be doing? It's effectively free work for them... Instead you c...

Re: Which city is best for toddlers and our careers?
FinlandGirl hates Americans. In another post she told "paintballsean" (another american user) that he is not entitled to Finnish residency because he feels persecuted in his country and discouraged him from moving to Finland. She has also indicated elsewhere that when America drops a bomb...

My dad's an amateur geneologist and he says that particular time period is a tough one because it's subject to legislation that has to do with privacy. If it was something older than that it wouldn't be a problem. I don't use FB but if you do, I guess you could try to find her here: https://fi-fi.fa...

Re: Lullaby from the '60s or a plain children's song
There's a song by a comedian called Kiikun kaakun kukkaset. Any similarities in the lyrics? :D https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iKHuxYs7nYI Chorus: "Niin kukkii kiikun kaakun kukkaset Sinä kun annoit rukkaset Kuinka pärjään pakkaset? Kuka parsii sukkaset? Suuret surut sydämen Rikkaruohot rakkaud...

Re: Finnish on Duolingo
As a Finn, I don't actively use any myself but I have found that the more languages are "supported" by the service provider, the less likely their Finnish course is going to be any good. Yeah, two minutes and I'm fairly sure this is a piece of trash. It makes me angry. The words are pronou...

Re: Exchange
Accommodation is arranged for you in some exchange programs as part of the cost of the programme (it's something pretty modest in a dorm house or a small flat at best). Depends, though, and it might not be the option you prefer. The most relevant information you get from the instances that organize ...

You're obviously looking for close-quarters teaching (once that becomes an option again)? If not, you have tons of resources online. A few ones I use for Japanese: Japanese Ammo with Misa (YouTube) WaniKani (for Kanjis and vocab) BunPro (grammar) Jisho.org (dictionary) OJAD (http://www.gavo.t.u-toky...

You DON'T even need native-level English. Just good enough. This is determined in an interview, at least that's how I got into Ressu IB high school.

Good choice you guys! I hadn't heard it before but I like it. Approximate: "In the middle of the wedding waltz, this newly-wed wife gets melancholy. The beloved home grounds will stay behind. I'm going away. Mother and the yard, the trees and the flowers on the porch, the lofts, the granaries, ...
