Re: Tell me your arrival stories?
- No freedom to talk anymore what want Bull. !"#¤%. You can spew what you want from your mouth. Back in the day you could do the same, someone might have decided to put fist to your mouth but you could do that. It is more likely to take responsibility to what you say in court now and more unli...

Re: .
Funny that a forum that seems to be primarily a place for welcoming expats and foreigners who have questions is overrun with cranky old farts who can't stand Finland. Can we purge these unsavoury creatures out of this forum, please? No wonder the OP deleted his post! He posed a simple, wholesome que...

Re: Depression and Finnish language
I'm not even eligible for citizenship for another few years, so I have plenty of time to worry about whether or not I want to try to learn this language that I'm 90 percent certain I'll never be fluent in.

Re: WHERE are the kids learning this hate?
Again, am I the only one who finds it asinine that this guy links to articles entirely in Finnish and comes here to discuss them in plain English, assuming everyone here is fluent in the damn tongue? Surely you know by now that a lot of people on this forum are expats or soon-to-be expats, so don't ...

Re: Depression and Finnish language
You wanna spend your life in Finland, you have to learn it sooner or later. Says who, you? If you want to be a citizen, sure. If you're content with being a permanent resident, then who really cares, aside from nationalists and jerks? Unless you need to find a job/ study here, then it's a bit diffe...

Re: Depression and Finnish language
Yeah, I've been here a year, and I've pretty much resigned to the fact that I'll never be fluent in Finnish, and I really don't care anymore. My wife speaks perfect English (she spent nine years in England as that's where her father's job took her family) and I don't like most humans in general, the...

You started a conversation about an article written entirely in Finnish... in English.
Wow.
Wow.

Re: Violation of Finnish Aliens Act by Migri
Otherwise, you will not have a good life in Finland, not with this mentality. This is not a country where complaining is a strategy that will help your case. You've obviously never talked to an immigrant who made the mistake of asking a Finn how their day was. Also, that strategy doesn't work in an...

Re: A very dissapointing public healthcare visit! Is this the standard of public health care service?
Finnish "free" (what it is not!) healt care is a big joke! Move to the US, get sick, require weeks of hospitalisation and medication, look at the bill they send you, then you'll truly know how much of a joke a nation's healthcare system can be. Hell, just go to the ER for a broken toe and...

Re: Valentine's Day
Ugh. Part of why I love this country more than the US is that they don't take ystävänpäivä nearly as seriously. Don't help let US traditions soil this land. There is absolutely nothing wrong with being alone on Valentine's Day, despite how much the US media tries to make you think so.

Even more shipping problems.
I’ve been tracking a shipment through Matkahuolto, and it says they sent me a letter saying my item is ready for pickup at the local K Supermarket. That was five business days ago, and I haven’t received any sort of letter. FIVE. I’m assuming I can’t pick my stuff up without that paper, so what are ...

Cigarettes
Could anyone point me to a list of cigarette brands that they sell in Finland, generally the ones you could find at any shop? I know this sounds like a silly request, but I'm not sure if it's allowed to ask what brands of smokes they sell right there at the counter, and I'm socially anxious enough a...
