I don't see what they did in Finland was illegal. There were not many employees,
Right, I forgot that YT negotiations are mandatory only with at least 20 employees.

Re: Military service and new citizen

Very recently I have received my Finnish citizenship. I am a guy, who's already in my 40s. I understood that those who are 29/30 will be called up for the military service. So I won't probably be called up, based on this. However, just in case, if Finland is under attack, I suppose everyone who's u...

Re: Basis of intimate relationship application

Thank you so much for your replies. We applied last week and now we are waiting for the result. I have another question, I have a type A residence permit, if my fiancee is accepted by Migri and if we marry in Finland, her residence permit type will change to the same as mine(A), or will still be th...

Re: Layoffs in Finland

In Finland you have to work and are receiving your normal salary until the end of the notice period, which is likely either 2 weeks or 1 month for you. The "you have to work" part is not true, the company can pay you until the end of the notice period but tell you that your work stops imm...

Re: Is change of RP needed?

My wife and I moved to Finland in September 2022, she is a EU citizen and I am not. We have been married for 4ish years. She has now decided she doesn't like it here and would like to go back home, however I would like to stay. I was issued a RP based on family ties that is valid until September 20...

Re: Layoffs in Finland

That's what I don't understand, I was told in the past that for them to lay you off there needs to be a reason like company bankruptcy, or employee did sth horrible, and there needs to be a valid case to kick you out as it's not easy to kick people out of work here without a proper justification in...

Re: Layoffs in Finland

In my case, our company is very small, so i dont think they will layoff more than 5-8 people. The company is profitable, and no re-orgs are happening. So on what basis would they layoff people ? I read that they can try to offer some package to people so they would resign, but if people say no i do...

For starters during my studies, I will be doing a part time job and then I will search for a job related to IT.
Outside IT, gig economy jobs delivering food or cleaning apartments are the only realistic options for people who are not speaking Finnish fluently.

Re: Layoffs in Finland

1- Do they have to pay you something when they want to release you if the companies financials are still good and they just want to get rid of people? In the US they paid people 4 months and fired them on the same day. What's the process in finland? In Finland you have to work and are receiving you...

Re: Cohabitation/Marriage, apply for residence in US or Finland? Freelancer advice?

The goal would be to move to Finland in the future with my finnish partner. We are living together in a Non-EU country (USA) for already more than 2 years. I am non-EU. I could most likely continue my job as a freelancer and would not seek a new job. Already taking finnish lessons. Already have bee...

Re: Basis of intimate relationship application

My fiance is going to apply for this application this Friday, and the last time when I check the form I realize there is a question about the spouse section. There is a checkbox on the right corner, " No spouse" , I am not a spouse of hers yet, we engaged 2 years ago and I couldn't be sur...

I remember that I've read it somewhere (maybe businessfinland) the limit you can earn without VAT is max. €5,000.
