Re: Finnish passport and ID card
I was just granted Finnish citizenship a couple of days ago and I learnt from migri that the citizenship is updated in the väestötietojärjestelmä same day as the citizenship granted. I aimed at applying for a Finnish ID card as well as passport but the status in the system was not updated. I ...

Re: Citizenship Application 2020
A picture is worth a thousand words.
Applications even with similar backgrounds still make a difference in processing time. The queue concept is irrelevant. Good luck to everyone.

Re: Citizenship Application 2020
Our baby received his citizenship due to a citizen parent,
proved identity mid June decision made August
Calculator was saying 12 months then changed into 4-5 but decision was made even before that. I'm guessing new applications processed way faster than before
Nice to hear. Your post just ...

Re: Citizenship Application 2020
That is the question you need to ask migri. You can't make wrong assumption with no facts. There is no old and new application system.
You advocated that others' assumptions are wrong and applications are handled according queues.
But when you were asked why there were cases where late ...

Re: Citizenship Application 2020
It doesn’t give any senses. Applying automaton system is not a new law. It is the improvement/development/advancement of processing system. Whether you submitted last year or after March 2020 they must process according the processing queues.
You may have overlooked some comments a few pages ...

Re: Citizenship Application 2020
How should we comprehend this new estimation if it is not deemed to be true?
Well my ASSUMPTION is that sine automated process came into force fully in March 2020 so the new time calculator is based on that (thats why the extra question of if you applied in Enter Finland is included in ...

Re: Citizenship Application 2020
Hi everyone, the time calculator on migri website has reduced the decision time to "5 to 6" months for those who applied in enterfinland (not paper application). What happens to those who are waiting for more than 10 months already?
Is it adviseable to send an email to migri and ask? Ofc i ...

wow... what a pleasant surprise!
I proved my identity on 17.3.2020, thought there wouldn't be any news until early 2021. And now things turn up unexpectedly!

Re: Anyone come to Finland as a EU long-term resident?
Sweden's an option for sure, but they have a much higher rate of crime. I think they treat the residency about the same, so it just comes to preference at that point.
I don't know much about the crime rate in Sweden, But from the Swedish migration website it seems that you can just transfer ...

Re: Moving to Finland from US
Hello,
We are moving (me, wife and 1 year old boy) to Finland in a few months. I am European citizen, can my wife (non-EU, non-US citizen) join me with Schengen visa and my son without need for visa as US citizen? Then we register ourselves inside Finland, right? Is a salary of 6000 euro gross ...

Re: Citizenship Application 2020
One thing I noticed is that from studyinfo, it says that migri has visited on the same day to check if the academic documents I submitted are valid.
Did you have to submit academic documents for citizenship application? I don't see any questions related to education in citizenship application ...
