Moonsorrow
Sonata Arctica
The Mist And The Morning Dew
Impaled Nazarean

Korpiklaani
Just it :) My best friend from Poland recommended me Finntroll (and I know his sense of taste  )
Could anyone recommend me any good metal music shops in Turku? You know, CDs and all that stuff.

Ahh I STILL have yet to check out Children Of Bodom and Norther. But anyway, some more cool, kinda obscure Finnish Metal bands:

Stone
Lordi
Ensiferum
Kylähullut
Shaman
Twilightning

Children of Bodom are excellent musically, but I'm not too fond of the deathy vocals. Sentenced are a great band from Oulo, but they are disbanding later this year. Very sad. Poisonblack have a great album out called Escapexstacy. The singer from Sentenced plays guitar and the singer from Charon sings. They have a new album due out later this year with the Sentenced singer singing. :D Does that make sense?

Some of my favorite Finnish bands that I don't think have been mentioned so far are Thunderstone, Charon, Sentenced, Poisonblack, The 69 Eyes, Altaria, Negative, Amorphis, To-Die-For, Entwine, For My Pain, Tarot, Lullacry and Cryhavoc....the list goes on. I like a lot of those bands that have been mentioned by others as well. I'm amazed at the amount of good quality music that comes from such a sparsely populated country.

something I have wondered for a looooong time:

Why are metal band names so funny sounding?

I saw a poster in Helsinki for a real band called Anal Blast.

I found a forum listing nearly as comical as the above, however some are ficticious names:

Factitious Bereavement
The Cosmic Love Explosion
Alex Argon and the Gassy Nobles
Activate the Love Machine! (nicked from the Starchildren RPG)
The Center for Disease Control Is Full of Germs
the Rear Admirals
The Sons Of Onan
Spetznatz
The Dead
500 Lawyers In A Gas Oven
Let's Not Lose Mars To The Commies
The Teenage Mice
The Bubblegum Crisis
Balls to Monty
The Things on the Doorstep
The Single Girl’s Guide to Pompeii
Go Go Second Time Virgin!
Spellcheck Republic
My Kind of Debris
She Left Me For A Zombie
The Hungarian Zits
Please Stop Shooting
The Axis of E-Tards
Children Of The Monkey Basket

Eternal Erection was really quite popular in the 90's, complete with Rick James like funky stage show with a 200kg lead singer wearing a grass colored fur suit and top hat. They used to pack Tavastia to its fullest capacity.. Don't know if they could still pull it off today though.

Ha, some of those are great!

Recently, I can't stop listening to Apulanta's "PVC-Unelmia". I know unelma is dream, so what does unelmia mean?

I don't know... they're just funny... The titles with 2 or 3 words in the same word like Ahellaciouscab [A Hellacious Scab] (hey, I just made that one up) ... seem to be a universal part of forming a metal band in Finland these days. Why not just try something original, is my attitude. ;-)

And, secondly, the horrendous sounding names like "Creeping Flesh of Satans Scrotum" really leaves nothing to the imagination and will more likely than not overpower the music ... how can you play music that matches a name like that??

unelmia = dreams

If a band had the name "Creeping Flesh of Satans Scrotum" or even something similar, I doubt I would listen to them.
