Fat pork or beef?

Post by agroot » Thu Oct 24, 2019 10:00 pm

Where can people buy fat pork or fat beef, such as pork belly or beef plate? The fattest I can find here is pork neck / kassler which is only like 1/4 or 1/5 fat, not half.

I've been checking K-market's batch order site (ordered from them before) but can't seem to find anything. Also, what happened to all the skins? Pork skin is the most lovely part especially after fried!

Is meat shop the only place? I live far away from city center...

Have you tried REKO groups?
for instance: https://www.facebook.com/groups/REKOHelsinki/

or alternatively, find your own pig farm and buy straight from them. However, I am not sure how well they function in English since they are farmers....

finally found at local supermarkets some time ago, always packaged at fridged meat section and never at fresh meat counter. At least one is labelled "Kylkiviipale" (rib???) - all of them are strips of half white fat & half lean pork, like this:

Stock seems very low in all the supermarkets I visited, so have to grab all whenever they're available, taste is great, much better than cheap beef of same price, and foolproof to cook :D
