New here

Post by AO » Thu Nov 06, 2003 11:37 am

Hi, just found this forum. So glad I did! I've been living in Finland since April 02. It's been quite a change from moving from warm NM to Finland. lol Although I'm getting used to it slowly but surely.

I have a 7 year old daughter and a 21 month old son. My daughter just started 1st grade at Komeetan this year and I stay home with my son.

Hoping to get to know everyone here.

Welcome, welcome!

Bummer that you can't come this Saturday. We're meeting on regular basis, though, not as en-masse as this Saturday, but keep an eye on the threads and feel free to come whenever we are out for a drink

Hei :D From UK :uk:

I have just found this site after looking for some online Finnish language courses and I am very, very impressed with the site.

I have Finnish and Norwegian roots and I am eager to learn all I can about my family and one day hope to visit Finland to learn more.

Thank you so much for letting me join your group.

Kiitos

Helmi

Hei Peter :)

No, my English name isn't Pearl but Helmi is a nickname I have been given by my friends and family.

I am living in North West UK not far from the Lake District.

As you rightly point out, I will not be able to join you at the Pub tomorrow night as I will be at a wedding, but I shall raise a glass to the people of the Finland Forum and wish you all health and happiness on your night out. Valitettavasti se ei sovi.

Lasi valkoviiniä, kiitos.

Näkemiin :)

New here as well. Just moved here about a month ago. Followed my husband on a temporary job assignment here for a year and am hating it. I'm so homesick. It's so cold and dark too, a huge change coming from sunny California and Vegas. I must be mad or love my husband too much. Well, my relief when I was referred to this site. I'm so homesick for "english" speaking people from back home. I know I should try to get to know the city but who likes to do things when it's cold and dark and you have to do it alone (my hubby works about 12 hours a day). Would like to makes some friends here (English-speaking natives) and join up with people in the same boat as I (no job, no school, with nothing to do) to explore the city with. Any takers?

There's a few of us meeting up on Thursday evening for a couple of drinks. You'll be able to find a few familiar accents there plus one very confused Australian one too. Join us!
