Anglo/Finnish same sex relationship - partner is pregnant -

Hi there,

I am British and my partner is Finnish - we are starting a family and she is pregnant already - it is our intention that I will adopt the child so that we are both legal guardians - we also want our children to be dual nationality as we live in both countries - so I will be seeking advice in Britain about how to procede but can anyone tell me where we can get advice in Finland?

Any advice or just an indication of where might be a good place to get advice would be very gratefully received

In which country you're going to be mostly resident for the near future? if you'd live in Finland you'd start the adoption procedure by contacting the social services in your home municipality (you need a paper from them for the court). Being in registered partnership would be mandatory.

UK adoption would be automatically considered valid here, provided you had been living there for one year continuously immediately before the adoption. Otherwise you may need to get a confirmation from the Helsinki Appeals court.
