Kindergarten, Work and benefits

Post by Mizu1993 » Fri Apr 24, 2020 6:53 pm

I am a single mom since a while now, unfortunately. My child is 2 1/2 years an will go to Kindergarten in September. For me personally, I think that it is way too fast. If I could, I would put my child in Kindergarten earliest when she is 4, because in my culture and where I come from, we do it like this. I know that there are also babies already in the finnish kindergarten and the parents go to work. It's insane and I feel really bad when I have to think that I have to leave my daughter to a stranger that I work and then I get her again. My kindergarten experiences were not good and I'm afraid that she will have the same fate as I did and even earlier than I had. I have contacted Kela twice now, since some people say that all benefits get canceled and I have to go to TE Toimisto to survive here. If I don't, then I can sleep under the bridge with my daughter or how does that work? I feel like I'm a bad person or a bad mom because of that kindergarten thing and my husband left me half a year ago. He always said he wants that I stay at home and take care of the children. He left and what now? Exactly, now I have the troubles here.

Are Finnish mothers also bad persons and bad moms for you?

Most likely she will have a great time in the kindergarten after a few weeks, and you will then feel bad for having here deprived of so much good time with other children.

I guess you could return to your native country and culture. Perhaps things will be better there and you might feel more comfortable too?
Socialism has never managed to create anything beyond corpses, poverty and oppression.

Don’t listen to ”some people”. Minimum level of benefits are guaranteed by the constitution to everyone in Finland.

She can return to her native country and culture.
Her daughter cannot move to a different country, unless the father agrees.
