Applying for residence permit ,passport expiry

Hey everyone

I have appointment on 27 jan 2021 In VFS to apply for residence permit first time , family ties

My passport will expire on 26 aug 2021

My question is , do i have to renew my passport before applying ?
I will hopefully get my residence around september 2021 so ill be having new passport but i will be able to keep the old one , is that fine with finland ?
In the future if i want to apply for PR or citizinship do i have to have valid passport so i can do that ? Because there is no embassy of my country in finland and tickets are very expensive , i know its too early but im just wondering
In my country renewing the passport while its still have more than 6 months is so much expensive thats why im asking

"Unless otherwise provided in this section, first fixed-term residence permits are issued for one year, however for no longer than the validity period for the travel document, unless requested for a shorter period."

It's a criminal offence to let your passport expire without renewing.
