Hi my wife and I are learning Finnish but we have a problem. She says the Kiitos sounds like GEEtos not KEEtos which is correct

KEE-tos is correct, but depending on your first language that might not capture all the nuances. One thing I've recently been taught is not to aspirate the vowels ... but I'm not sure I can explain that and there's no easy to write down the distinction. As a result to some ears it might well sound more like GEE-tos.

GEE-tos isn't exactly wrong, and nor is KEE-dos which I'm convinced is how some Finns say it - because natural Finnish words never begin with g, and via consonant gradation in the middle of words kk, k and g change into each other and tt, t and d change into each other.
