question about work permit

Post by acwan » Tue Dec 02, 2003 6:15 pm

For those of you with jobs, is your employer paying for your application fee (40 euros) associated with applying for a new or renewal of your work permit? I've heard this depends on whether you have an A-(married or otherwise related to a Finn) or B-(no-Finnish ties whatsoever) residence permit.

I think it depends on the employer.

My employer pays for renewal of my residence permit and the work permit, even though the permit is B2 (issued for studies).

it also depends where you are from. EU residents dont need a work permit.

My employer doesn't pay for my B-2 permit. I think that it as far as the government is concerned you are responsible for paying it (regardless of type) if you are lucky maybe your employer will cover it for you. It never hurts to ask.
