Hello all,
I may be able to secure a job in Finland and I will be moving there with my girlfriend which, unlike myself, is not an EU citizen.
I was therefore wondering if Finland recognizes "de facto unions" (we've been together for over two years and I have ample photographic material and documentation to prove it) so that she can legally stay with me in Finland beyond the three months tourist visa on arrival she would be allowed to get and to have an easier time finding a job, etc.
Does anyone have any experience with this?
Thank you very much!
Are "de facto unions" recognized in Finland?

Yes, if you and your girlfriend have been living together for at least 2 years (=cohabitation). And you will need contracts, bills etc in both of your names to prove that.m4cc wrote: ↑Fri Jun 22, 2018 11:23 amHello all,

If you have not been living together for that long she will not qualify for a residence permit based on family ties.
You could still marry her.

Hello wolf, thank you for your reply.
Regarding those 2 years of cohabitation do you happen to know if they would necessarily need to have been spent within the EU or outside the EU also counts?
Thanks again!
